Due to a certain confluence of destinies, we have decided to remain in North America for a year or more before continuing our adventures in strange lands. But of course, considering who is President of the USA, perhaps it’s the strangest land of all!
When we were in New Zealand, we saw for the first time a Mercedes Sprinter camper conversion. It left an indelible impression. So when we landed in South Florida last January, we started scouring the ads.
We now own the perfect conversion van for two people. It has a good size refrigerator/freezer, two-burner stove, big hanging locker (closet), bathroom, heat, air conditioning, microwave, hot and cold running water and tons of cabinet space. We have so much more room than we had in our two suitcases and backpacks that we must have almost doubled our possessions!!
After South Florida, we spent four months in Toronto with Deena’s new granddaughter. Then we hurried off to Missouri to visit friends that just happened to live in the path of total eclipse. I didn’t have much faith that summer plains-weather would be cooperative and I was right. But for us, its always about the people anyway. We had a great tailgate party under the clouds. It got dark. It got light. We weren’t chased out of town by torch-carrying crowds blaming Yankee white liberals for their crop loss or something. It was a great visit.
We then took Horace Greeley’s advice and headed west for Burning Man.
Hey! We are in Florida and you passed us by! Next time come see us. We are headed to Australia tomorrow but will return the end of October. We then pick up our motorhome (stored in Dallas) and head for Branson, MO. Then a flight to Vegas for a four day birthday party before home to get ready to hit the Caribbean for some diving.
We left Florida kind of suddenly, lol. We shall return!
I am happy that you both found a place that hold your contentment. Congratualtions on the van but please post pictures if the beautiful surrounding nature as well! Good luck fellow peeps!
Yes, coming soon!
Hey guys! What a nice life you have created for yourselves, specially riding the Pleasure-Way MMX, very nice! Enjoy every step and thanks for sharing your adventures! Love from Amsterdam…
We miss you, and big hugs to you! Someday we will be in YOUR neighborhood!
WOW you guys are the complete nomads, congrats on your camper purchase how fun! I am busy and doing great in Fort Lauderdale. Fortunately for all of us Irma was not as devastating here as she was in other parts of the world. Wind damage to trees, fences and power outages were common but in the scheme of things could have been way worse. I went to Montreal on August 15th until the 30th and then flew to Boston and then took the high speed ferry to Ptown where I stayed with a friend for 8 days and then flew to Baltimore to visit the kids and grandkids and the rest of the family. I was supposed to fly home on 9/12 but my flight got delayed until 9/14 due to Irma. I am trying to sling some real estate deals and going to yoga just about everyday as I really love how I feel when I am done with my practice. I am in Fort Lauderdale until 10/13 and then heading to LA to visit a friend for 4 days and then I am off to Palm Springs for a real estate conference and then 4 nights at a gay guest house. I am looking forward to this as I have never been to Palm Springs. All of the kids etc are descending on me for Thanksgiving and then we are all going on an 8 day cruise to see the islands. Hopefully, they will have recovered a bit from Irma. Sending much love and hugs from sunny Fort Lauderdale! XO
Sounds like you are moving around as much as we are, lol! Glad to hear it’s all good, and yes, the daily yoga is awesome for our old bones, right? (And you should have called us for the cruise – we would have saved you money.)
